The circuit itself was inaugurated in 1948 by Freddie March, the 9th Duke of Richmond, and soon became a legendary venue, attracting racing greats like Sir Stirling Moss and Sir Jackie Stewart.
Although competitive racing ceased at the circuit in 1966, the spirit of the era was revived in 1998 by the current Duke of Richmond, who envisioned a nostalgic yet authentic return to the circuit’s heyday. Thus, Goodwood Revival was born, meticulously reimagined to reflect every detail of mid-20th-century Britain, from steward uniforms to trackside signage.
Heritage reimagined
Unlike other vintage car festivals or historic racing events, the Goodwood Revival is the only one in the world that is entirely staged in period-accurate dress and setting. Guests, drivers, and staff are all part of the performance, donning 1940s, 50s, and 60s attire to transform the estate into a vibrant film set.
