Goodwood Festival of Speed Packing Guide: What to wear and what to bring

Last Updated: June 30, 2025

The Goodwood Festival of Speed is no ordinary day out – it’s a masterclass in automotive excellence – and your experience with Salone Events is far from an ordinary ticket.

The Festival of Speed is one of the most iconic motor racing events in the world and as such, it’s important to be perfectly equipped for the occasion.

On the eve of the 2025 edition of the Festival of Speed, Salone Events has carefully curated the definitive Goodwood packing guide, ensuring that you can enjoy the experience in comfort and style, safe in the knowledge that not a single detail was overlooked.

Tickets & Credentials

In order to experience the Goodwood Festival of Speed in 2025, remembering your entry tickets and hospitality credentials is a necessary and essential first step.

If you’re joining us as part of our Thrill & Indulgence experience, your arrival will be seamlessly arranged via helicopter transfer, with on-site hosts ready to personally escort you to your bespoke hospitality suite.

For all guests, we recommend keeping your documents – digital or printed – in an easily accessible pouch or wallet for safe keeping.

Parking & Travel Information

For information and details relating to travel by car, please view the official 2025 Goodwood Festival of Speed parking guide here.

Should you be arriving by rail, Chichester Station, which is well connected to major transport hubs including London, Brighton, and Portsmouth, is your destination.

A shuttle bus service, which runs from the station, will take passengers directly to the Festival of Speed event gate to bypass rush hour traffic.

For Salone Events guests, our team can assist you with any travel queries.

The British Weather

The British summer is famously unpredictable, and just as the sun can soar high, rain can fall at just a moment’s notice. This means that, as an open-air event, it’s important to be prepared for every weather eventuality at the Goodwood Festival of Speed.

To be as prepared as possible, we suggest that you should consider packing:

  • A light waterproof jacket or elegant rain mac, blending fashion with functionality.
  • A collapsible umbrella, stylish yet highly practical.
  • A wide-brimmed hat or cap for sun protection.
  • A pair of sunglasses – functional, yet fashion-forward.
  • High-quality sun cream, because the sun in the South Downs can be surprisingly strong.

Comfort Meets Sophistication

It isn’t an urban myth to say that fashion and comfort can coexist in the same world, and this is especially the case at the Goodwood Festival of Speed.

The experience calls for subtle sartorial flair, but with some uneven surfaces and plenty of walking between paddocks, pavilions, and hospitality suites, an element of practicality is also needed.

Consider wearing:

  • Well cushioned footwear such as smart loafers, chic trainers, or supportive and comfortable boots.
  • Breathable fabrics such as linen, cotton, light layers, or performance tailoring which adapt well throughout the day.
  • A cross-body or structured handbag, allowing you to keep your essentials close by, without compromising fashion.

Hydration

From breakfast to afternoon tea, you will be well catered at the Goodwood Festival of Speed as part of our Thrill & Indulgence experience. But a few small touches can go a very long way.

To stay hydrated when you’re on the go or outdoors, consider bringing a reusable water bottle, and to ensure that your phone is charged for photography, social sharing, pack a power bank.

Enhance Your Experience

To immerse yourself even further in the Goodwood Festival of Speed, consider bringing a pair of binoculars to track Hill Climb action, pack your event programme and radio earpiece – included with Clark Premium Hospitality – and a notebook to capture the highlights of your bespoke escape.
