Track day FAQs
What is a track day?
A track day is a chance to drive your own car on a proper racing circuit, in a controlled setting where the emphasis is on enjoyment rather than competition. With Salone Events, it’s also a sociable, well-run day out with low numbers and high standards.
Are track days suitable for beginners?
Yes. With no more than seven cars on track at a time and expert instructors on hand, Salone Events track days work just as well for first-timers as they do for experienced drivers.
Do I need my own car for a track day?
No. You’re welcome to bring your own suitable car, but if you don’t have a track-ready vehicle you can hire a Caterham at selected events.
What are the noise limits at UK track days?
Limits vary from circuit to circuit. At Goodwood, Salone Events track days are set at 105dB static and 101dB drive-by, a level that works for most standard and high-performance road cars. Your car’s noise level is checked during sign-on.
What’s included in a Salone Events track day?
Your day includes refreshments, lunch, face to face instructor tuition, professional photography and helmet hire. At Goodwood events, lunch is served in the Jackie Stewart Pavilion.
How many cars are on track at once?
Salone Events caps sessions at seven cars on track at any one time. Keeping numbers this low means cleaner laps, less traffic and a safer, more relaxed day for everyone.
What do I need to bring to a track day?
You’ll need your full, valid driving licence to show on arrival and suitable clothing for driving. Helmets can be hired. All drivers must be 18 or over, sober and fit to drive.
Do I need track day insurance?
Track day insurance isn’t mandatory, but it is recommended, because most road car policies don’t cover track driving. Specialist track day cover is worth considering.
