The Construction Industry Motor Racing Challenge

On this page you will find all information that you require to prepare driving an unrivalled collection of performance cars, against the clock, at Bedford Autodrome. There is a section of important information that we ask you read carefully.

EVENT OVERVIEW

You’re joining Wilson James for an exclusive motorsport event in support of Lighthouse Charity, the only charity providing emotional, physical, and financial wellbeing support to construction workers and their families.

Experience the thrill of driving 8 track-prepared cars, competing for trophies on a circuit designed for high-speed.

After the action, unwind with a three-course dinner, prize giving, auction and an overnight stay with breakfast at The Bedford Swan Hotel.

VENUE INFORMATION

The day will begin at Bedford Autodrome for the driving experience. On arrival, please head to the Trackside Suite.

THE HOTEL

The Bedford Swan Hotel & Thermal Spa, The Embankment, Bedford, Bedfordshire, MK40 1RW.

The hotel is located 20 minutes from Bedford Autodrome. Parking is allocated on a first come first serve basis, with alternative parking viewable here. You can view the hotels website here.

All rooms are single occupancy with breakfast included. Breakfast is served 06:30-10:00. Check out is 12:00 Friday 13th June 2025.

Important: It is essential that you check in using the desk instead of the self serve computer. This is to ensure you do not get charged for your room. Please ensure you enter your vehicle registration when asked, to avoid a parking ticket.

SCHEDULE

07:45 – Arrival & sign in at Bedford Autodrome, Trackside Suite
08:00 – Full English breakfast
08:30 – Safety briefing
09:00 – The fun begins
12:15 – Lunch and refuel
13:15 – Restart
16:30 – Afternoon tea
17:00 – Departure to Bedford Swan Hotel
18:30 – Meet in the “Coach Room” for award giving, auction and dinner (Dress code: Casual, with deep pockets!), followed by an overnight stay

THE DRIVING

Tailor-made for this specific driving experience, Bedford Autodrome was designed to create the world’s most extensive, thrilling and safe driving experience complex. This event doesn’t just put you behind the wheel of mouth-watering performance machinery – it actively encourages you to push to the limits. And at Bedford Autodrome you can do just that, safe in the knowledge that there is nothing to hit but the rev limiter.

Throughout the day you’ll have access to complimentary refreshments in each trackside suite, along with WiFi internet access and mobile phone charging.

Below is a list of all of the vehicles that you will get to drive, and when the activity allows, you will be alongside an instructor, encouraging you to discover your true on-track potential.

IMPORTANT INFORMATION

You must bring your driving licence on the day. Failure to do so will result you in you not being able to participate.

Please advise if you are under the age of 21, or have less than 12 month’s driving experience. Prior written permission to drive must be obtained, and certain additional conditions and a damage excess may apply.

Please advise if you are outside the weight and height guidelines of 18 stone and 153 cm – 193 cm.

Please arrive at 07:45 in order to allow time for registration and breakfast before the safety briefing. Even if you have been to a Bedford Autodrome event before, you will need to watch the essential safety briefing video as this is an insurance requirement.

Where required, Bedford Autodrome provide helmets for all activities. Their helmets are fitted with an intercom system to allow constant communication with your Instructor. As a result, if you do wish to bring your own helmet, you may only wear this in the single-seater vehicles.

Please feel free to bring your own camera if you would like to. Please note however, that due to safety requirements you will be unable to use your own camera or video camera for any in car pictures or footage.

We recommend that you wear comfortable clothing, e.g. jeans and sweatshirt, windproof jacket and lightweight shoes suitable for performance driving. Shorts and high heels are not permitted and heavy or wide soled shoes are not recommended. Waterproof clothing will be provided, if required, for use in the cars with open cockpits. Helmets are provided for all activities except off road. You are welcome to bring any driving overalls and driving gloves/wet weather gear of your own, and if rain is forecast a change of clothing may be useful.
