Our Event Management Services helped create a Charity Day with a difference!

You know what charity days are like. You’re raising money for a really good cause. This means you get out of the office or the site and you have a reasonably enjoyable day. Which often involves golf balls. Well, not our charity day for a great client.

Our day definitely involved raising money for a brilliant charity. But it also involved a huge amount of enjoyment, thrills, excitement and maybe even a touch of fear!

But first we have to say what the event was –  “The Inaugural Construction Industry Motor Racing Challenge”, on behalf of Lighthouse Construction Industry Charity hosted by Wilson James.

The event did not involve golf balls, instead it involved a racetrack, eight high-performance cars, and plenty of instruction and time behind the wheel. Taking place on a bespoke circuit at Bedford Autodrome, owned by former F1 driver Jonathan Palmer, it was a day to remember. One of the key points is that there is plenty of run-off area, so drivers can press on without the risk of running into the barriers.

That took some of the pressure off, and allowed even more enjoyment. Because you can have a lot of enjoyment driving cars like a BMW M4 GTP, Ginetta G56 GTA or a Caterham Seven Palmersport Edition. Taking a fourth-gear corner flat out in an F3000 single-seater was even more exciting than a putting green.

Naturally, all that derring-do works up an appetite, so the 40 guests started the day with a slap-up full English, plus there was a steak lunch to keep that adrenalin flowing. By the evening, after a fabulously successful day where everyone enjoyed themselves and nobody had any problems, there was of course a celebration dinner.

With photographs of the day already on display, plus a successful auction, it was quite an evening with everyone going over their day and the many highlights everyone would remember for a year.

The goal was to raise £12,000 for The Lighthouse Charity, however the client smashed the target and raised a huge £22,500.

The plan was for this to be a one-off event. But it was so successful that we’re making it an annual event with Wilson James. That’s why the memories will be for a year and next year we’ll overlay them with even more.

So what event could we create for you?

Talk to us and we’ll create something memorable and exciting together.
