Silverstone, a playground for the motorsport elite…. and you!

Bernadette shares her experience of the Silverstone circuit, and tells us why it had to feature on the Salone Events 2021 event calendar.

Silverstone, I mean where to begin? My family and I used to sit and watch Formula 1 as it was always an occasion to look forward to.

For the British Grand Prix, we would go all out with flags and banners and were always backing a Brit most likely Button or Hamilton. I knew that one day I had to experience the live atmosphere for myself. So when the opportunity came to go with a friend from school to celebrate his birthday, I almost couldn’t contain my excitement.

Silverstone holds the title as the home of British Motorsport and for good reason. It is the original home of Formula 1, and where the first ever race was held in 1950. I am really looking forward to bringing clients to this iconic circuit and sharing in the nostalgia.

Like many circuits Silverstone was built on the site of an old WW2 RAF bomber base. This was common due to the perimeter of the airfields being the perfect foundations for a race circuit. The track was redesigned in 1990 when Nigel Mansell famously took victory and managed to pick up a stranded Ayrton Senna whose car had run out of fuel on the last lap of the race.

A playground for the motorsport elite you can see why Silverstone is a favourite track for British motoring enthusiasts. Looking back to earlier this year when it seemed all too easy for Hamilton to take victory at his home Grand Prix, suddenly his tyre blew out on the very last lap. I was literally on the edge of my seat, clutching the cushions and the family and I screaming as the adrenaline kicked in. It is moments like these that compel my passion for the circuit and why it has to feature on the Salone Events calendar for 2021.

So, what can you expect from a Salone Events track day at Silverstone?

We are really excited to bring our clients to the Silverstone GP circuit. 105db Static and plenty of track time throughout the day. Refreshments and lunch are included, and we also give our drivers a gift bag filled with handpicked goodies from a range of our partners.
